A couple of us attended Shoemoney’s Elite Retreat in San Francisco and we were not disappointed. Along with a varied mix of bright attendees which included Super Affiliates, SEOs, SEMs, Bloggers, Social Media players, Ecommerce and Affiliate Networks themselves was an all-star list of speakers who did not disappoint. The highlight of the show itself was probably Gary Vanyerchuk’s in your face and inspiring talk. Gary preached a lot about doing what you love and his message hit home for a lot of the attendees. The last day of the trip included a memorable lunch and visit to Facebook’s Palo Alto headquarters arranged by DK from Purpose Inc. On top of all this, there were two great dinners and a cocktail party on the first night of the event.

Like last year’s event the speakers were all top-notch and were willing and open to share great information.

Neil Patel spoke about Social Media and some tricks he uses. Like last year he provided some info we’ve already put to good use. Kris Jones of Pepperjam gave an informative talk about making money with search arbitrage – check out his book “Search Engine Optimization”. Andy Liu spoke about how to value businesses, raising money and how to take advantage of the current market. Chris Winfield led a great session on how to get publicity and really opened a lot of eyes to something most of us are not doing a good enough job with. Stephan Spencer was this year’s SEO speaker and he provided great information. Last but not least, Jeremy “Shoemoney” Schoemaker gave a very frank discussion on how to optimize landing pages and shared some great ideas with the audience.

If you are considering attending this show next year, we highly recommend it.

Globalizer secures Crispy Gamer as SEM/PPC client. Globalizer will help manage Crispy Gamers search marketing and pay-per-click advertising initiatives, as well, assist them in other strategic pursuits.
Crispy Gamer is a web site dedicated to the serious videogamer who wants news, reviews and information that is unaffected by game publisher advertising and fan boy reporting.

August 14th, 2008 – Boats, iPods and an Automobile….that’s how we got to Boston for this year’s ASE. And as we could tell from the crowd at the Westin hotel bar Sunday night when we arrived, it was well worth the trip. After a spirited dinner and short night’s sleep, we walked over the bridge to the Seaport and spread out to introduce Globalizer for the first time to an American audience.

There were many new faces at the show and of course plenty of familiar ones as well. We spoke with a number of advertisers, affiliate networks, SEM and SEO companies. While many didn’t recognize our new name, virtually all were familiar with our track record of delivering results for our clients and want to be a part of the launch of the Globalizer Network later this month. After the extremely well attended post show happy hour at the Seaport bar, we hit Grill 23 for a client dinner and then headed off to the New England Aquarium for the LeadFlash party.

Maybe I’m just old but I definitely preferred the relative ambiance of the aquarium which allowed you to actually hear what the person next to you was saying instead of just nodding through the techno beat of the latest club and hoping you didn’t miss something actually important like ‘we’re going with your competitor’. Not to mention the real life drama and wondering if the shark was going to catch one of the tunas.
